© Mulga 2012, Ole Pointy Beard Pete, Posca on Paper, 30 x 40 cm

I was commissioned to paint this for a lucky gentlemen’s birthday present.

Buy a print of this here.

An Ode to Ole Pointy Beard Pete

Ole Pointy Beard Pete loves his single fin stick
It goes super fast and rides real slick

He always runs swiftly towards the ocean
As if he is strengthened by some magical potion

His beard trails behind like a bushy tail
And sometimes he uses it as a sail

He’s a surf hunter adventure man
He’s surfed in Alaska and even Iran

He once rode a wave onto the back of a whale
Then the whale got angry and flicked it’s tail

That was the best darn ride Ole Pete ever had
And when he remembers that day it always makes him glad

Laser Head Lance

Laser Head Lance by Mulga the Artist

© Mulga 2012, Laser Head Lance, Acrylic on Board, 70 x 120 cm

The original Laser Head Lance painting is available for sale in Platform72 Gallery, Oxford Street, Sydney

An Ode to Laser Head Lance

Laser Head Lance is a slippery old cat
Lives in a world of shadows covered up by his hat

The one day the wind turned from breeze into gale
Blew up his hat like a boat under sail

Those secrets within did explode out his head
And the colour of his hands were a deep shade of red

His secrets revealed that he’d been quite bad
And the fallout was severe and the people were mad

Oh how the mighty have fallen and the proud do stumble
Now Laser Head Lance is humbler than humble

An Ode Eden the Enigmatic Elephant

A mystery to one and all
A colourful massive beast
His wonder and his splendour
Spreads from the west to the east

Creator of the rainbow
Colours shot from his trunk
A magical conundrum
More pleasant then a skunk

And where there’s rain, and where there’s sun
You’ll find this jolly beast
Having his lion’s share of fun
At his giant moveable feast

And at the end of a long days work
He’ll leave a pot of gold
Payment for the Leprechauns
As it has been foretold

Blackbeard Santa with laser beams

Mulga the artist-Blackbeard Santa with Laser Beams coming out of his eyes

© Mulga 2012, Blackbeard Santa with laser beams, Posca on card, 14.8 x 22 cm

An ode to BlackBeard Santa

With laser beams coming out of his eyes,
This Christmas you may be in for a Blackbeard Santa surprise

If you’ve been bad you’ll make him mad
If you’ve been nice you’ll get some chocolate slice

His laser beams are his most prominent feature
They stike the fear into every man and creature

A single short burst can liquify a cat
vaporize a goat or dissolve a rat

Explode a man and vanish a dog
Exterminate a pig and stupefy a frog

So please don’t make him mad
These powers of his are very rad

Zombie King of the Sea

© Mulga 2012, Zombie King of the Sea, Acrylic and Posca on Paper, 55 x 75 cm

An Ode to the Zombie King of the Sea

I am Zombie King of the Sea
All powerful that is me

I inhabit the depths where Leviathan roam
Down many steps I call my home

My beard is long and it is red
The source of my power keeps me fed

Like the pits of Mordor I am underwater death
Just dip in your toe and take a breath

Upon dolphins and whale I enjoy to feed
With but one bite I devour with speed

If your down my way come and say hi
I’ll invite you to stay I’ll bake a pie

The flavour could be penguin and shark
Bounty of the sea this aint no lark

Malcolm the Magician

© Mulga 2012, Malcolm The Magician, Acrylic and Posca on Paper, 30 x 40 cm

An Ode To Malcolm The Magician

Malcolm the magician lived in a pot of gold
His tricks were bad and getting old

He pulled some rabbits outta his hat
Then they scampered away and in his beard they sat

They were plenty fed and upon his scraps they ate
They liked the lettuce but their favourite was steak

Square Beard

© Mulga 2012, Square Beard, Acrylic and Posca on Paper, 30 x 40 cm

An Ode to Square Beard

Walking down the street other beards stop and stare
Dumbfounded at the feat of a beard growing so square

I’ll explain that this growth is not sculptured or trimmed
But that it’s shaped from the zombies thoughts from within

The things that are pondered inside this beasts brain
Are then reflected in the hair that grows on his face

Bird Brain Bill

© Mulga 2012, Bird Brain Bill The Zombie, Acrylic Paint and Posca Pen on Paper, 30 x 40 cm

An Ode To Bird Brain Bill the Zombie

His name is Bill and for a brain
He’s got a bird thus his name

His thoughts are scattered like bird seed
Of worms and kernels his mind does feed

Bill’s original brain was eaten alive
By Beardo the Weirdo doing the zombie jive

Beardo became Bill’s zombie dad
His beard is green and very rad

The early worm gets eaten alive
By the early bird who’s got the drive

One bird in the head is worth two in the tree
Especially when that space is free

Today Bill operates four birdseed shops
His brain is happy the food never stops

That’s the story of Bird Brain Bill
With a bird for brain and looks to kill

Time Keeper Timmy

© Mulga 2012, Time Keeper Timmy, Ink on Paper and digitally coloured, 15 x 21 cm

An Ode to Time Keeper Timmy

Time Keeper Timmy was a punctual chap
He was never once late even when he had a flat

The sands of time slip through the hourglass
With this in mind everything he did he did really fast

He high fived instead of shook and ran instead of walked
His thoughts were double speed, he even rapped instead of talked

Running across the road he got hit by a car
Broke both his legs and was stuck in bed with a cast

For Timmy time seemed to slow to a shuddering halt
He had no place to go and no way he could bolt

So he got himself the Sunday newspaper
And mastered the force like the dark lord Vader

Rodney RopeBeard

© Mulga 2012, Rodney RopeBeard, Acrylic paint and Posca on Paper, 30 x 40 cm

An Ode To Rodney Ropebeard

Rope Beard Rodney is an old sea salt
His poison of choice iswhiskey and malt

He nearly met his maker, sent by Moby Slick
The great grand whale of Moby Dick

This whale was a zombie beast stained red
From the blood of the men upon which it has fed

Rodney tried to harpoon this deathly whale
But the odds were against him he was doomed to fail

It’s skin was as strong as a golden orbs web
Harpoons were useless even to the head

Moby Slick devoured the entire stinking crew
Gobbled them up like some putrid human stew

Rodney did escape and he’ll tell you the tale
Of his high seas adventure with Moby Slick the whale

Snake Turban Steve

© Mulga 2012, Snake Turban Steve, Acrylic paint and Posca on Paper, 30 x 40 cm

An Ode to Snake Turban Steve

Snake Turban Steve is a weird and dangerous chap
His headwear of choice is the deadliest form of hat

If you give him any cheek his serpent will pluck out your eye
Then the beast’s deadly venom will make you slowly die

But if you carry a flute you know you’ll be alright
The snake will be yours and you’ll have no fight

Herman the Hipster

© Mulga 2012, Herman the Hipster, Acrylic paint and Posca on Paper, 30 x 40 cm

An Ode to Herman the Hipster

Herman the hipster is as smooth as butter
His yellow beard makes him seem real clever

His hipster goggles give him x-ray vision
And also allow him to read with precision

He reads in the park and sits under a tree
His favourite number is the number three

Zombie Reece

© Mulga 2012, Zombie Reece, Acrylic paint and Posca on Paper, 30 x 40 cm
Zombie Reece prints available at My Magical Online Shop
An Ode To Zombie Reece
His name is Reece and he had a beard
So damn bushy and so revered
Then one day he made a decision
To cut that beard with a blade of precision
Everyone was sad and asked him why
He simply said “It was hot and in the summer I’ll fry”

An Ode to Mr Magic Aztec Sun Face

Oh Mr Magic Sun Face
With a lovely mo and a grin so huge
Where is thy grace
When you ride the luge

You sit in the atmosphere
Collecting the asteroids and dust
From out of space
Your happiness is a must

2012 is your fateful year
Like a deer on the road
Something is shifting
Like a plague of cane toad

Boom boom go the drums
Clash bang the cymbals too
Everyone elongate your thumbs
And dip them in the magic brew

Colour and mystery
Is your cloak in the dark
Sometimes a great moustache
Will only get you so far
The end
See you next time

Harry the Headphone Hipster

© Mulga 2012, Harry the Headphone Hipster, Acrylic on Canvas,30 x 40 cm

This is a recent commission I completed.

An Ode to Harry the Headphone Hipster

Hipster Harry liked the song
That was sung from his beard
He listened in all day long
Until he turned so weird

His hair turned a tone of green
His nose a shade of yellow
His moustache curled towards the sky
And his eyes became all mellow

He floated in the cloud of buzz
That his DJ beard turned out
Thus became his magic facial fuzz
As colourful as a trout

Green and blue and blue and green
Like the colours of the sea
Orange, pink and yellow
And anything in between

Roll up your trousers
Grab some loafers
Grow that fringe all out
Don some over sized headphones
And do the hipster flout

Gary the Gorilla

© Mulga 2012, Gary the Gorilla, Coffee and Ink on Paper, 15 x 21 cm

Gary the Gorilla will be sitting in my sketchbook which will be at the Good Jelly sketchbook exhibition on the 3rd of September at Wollongong.
There will be 29 other pages with Gary’s friends in the sketchbook. Yew!

An Ode to Gary the Gorilla

Gary is a Gorilla
A big beast of a thing
He lives in Manilla
He loves to sing

He is a superstar in Manilla
The biggest ape in town
He drinks a milkshake of vanilla
He can kill with his frown

Some call him the Gorilla Beiber
For his fame and his songs
The female chimps really love him
Even though he wears thongs

Ned Kelly Was a Hipster

© Mulga 2012, Ned Kelly was a Hipster, Ink on Paper stained by coffee, 30 x 40 cm
Prints available at my magical online shop.

Did you know Ned Kelly was a hipster?

This drawing is based on a photo of him the day before his execution and I was struck by how fashionable he would look today. He would fit right in with the hipster vibe.
An Ode to Ned Kelly the Hipster Bushranger
A hipster was Ned Kelly
A notorious bushy ranger too
His favorite food was jelly
He rocked a hipster do
