The undersea whale themed mural I painted with the students at Beauty Point Public School. It heavily features two humpbacks and a southern right whale who often travel past Sydney in their aquatic adventures. Here’s a story about them:

The story of Wexley, Warren and Wendy the Whales

Once there was two whales called Warren and Wendy who were brother and sister and they were well known for their sideshow acrobatic act that they performed at fairs and festivals all around the state. Their act was called ‘Warren and Wendy doing flips and stuff’ and they did indeed do flips and other acrobatic feats like cartwheels and roly-polys and headstands and other tricky stuff like that.

They were moderately successful but should have had a lot more success and then they met Wexley who became their manager and he was heaps good at internet marketing and negotiating so they became heaps more successful and started booking corporate gigs and other lucrative opportunities and everything went pretty much swimmingly from then on in.

The End.
Cheers to Karl, Janelle and the school community for hosting me. A couple of times when I was painting I heard clapping and when I turned around there was a group of students giving me a clap. Quite nice of them.

This time last year I painted Jon Jon the Unicorn at Wollongong Uni for live art week.

Live art week is back on and I’ll be back today doing another painting. If you’re around and would like to have a paint come by the duckpond lawn and we can lay down some paint together.

The story of Jon Jon the Unicorn

Jon Jon the Unicorn was studying digital communications at university and he was doing a subject learning all about how to do instagram heaps good. He wrote a thesis on the subject title “Keep it real homies, neigh”. One time he went dirt biking out near the nuclear reactor and ran into a tree stump and then crashed into a radioactive sludge pond and a bit of the radioactive liquid went in his mouth and then he turned flouro green. He also got some magical powers after that like he grew a horn and became a unicorn and he could cause tattoos to appear just by the power of his thoughts.

It’s Otto the Orangutan at the @sylvanvale Sutherland Garden House.

The story of Otto the Orangutan

Once there was an orangutan called Otto and all through his childhood he was quite small in stature compared to the other orangutans his age. He could never keep up in the activities like wrestling or log throwing where size was an advantage. Then one day he discovered the magic of weet bix and ate heaps of them everyday for breakfast and he soon grew to be heaps big and strong. Some say his rapid physical development was dude to natural causes as he went through adolescence but I guess we shall never know.

Cockatoo Sue peacing out on the wall at @sylvanvale.

The story of Cockatoo Sue

Once there was a cockatoo called Cockatoo Sue and she was a majestic winged creature who flew all around the place spreading peaceful vibes everywhere she went. When she flapped her wings sparkles would fly down to the ground and they were called ‘Peaceful Vibes Sparkles’ and anyone they landed on would get those peaceful vibes for the rest of the day and sometimes for the rest of the week or the rest of the month. She was quite magical like that and one time when it was new years eve and Lenny forgot to buy sparklers Sue came to the rescue by flapping her wings and bringing the sparkler action to the party.

Please meet Lenny the Lion as named by @kayell05. You can see him from the street at @sylvanvale Garden House, next to the Sutho PCYC and opposite Sutho pool.
The story of Lenny the Lion

Lenny was cut from a different cloth to the rest of his family. He was a peaceful lion and defied the laws of nature by choosing to be vegetarian and instead devouring bowls of lentil soup instead of gazelles and the like. He enjoyed spreading a message of love and peace and was known to be the nicest lion on the reserve and gave really good hugs as well. He also opened a cafe called Lenny’s Lentil Kitchen where the house special was lentil soup, Lenny’s favourite dish.

Once there was a goanna called Gareth and when he was little he wanted to be an astronaut but then he got older and forgot about that idea and instead he became a miner because the pay was heaps good and he could work for a couple of days and then get a couple of days off and on his days off he could drive to the lake and then sunbake on his favourite rock which was shaped liked a dragons head.

It’s Gail the Galah at the Mount Isa Family Fun Park.

The story of Gail the Galah

Once there was a galah called Gail and she grew a reputation for being a bit of a daredevil galah. It all started when she got a motorbike for her 5th birthday. She fell in love with riding the motorised contraption and was soon launching into the air on the motorbike performing aerial manoeuvres and the like. As her reputation grew as a motorbike daredevil she was offered the chance to perform her motorbike stunts for the half time entertainment at the annual Mount Isa Rodeo. She practised her routine everyday leading up to the day of the show and on the day everything went according to plan even the final stunt where she launched over 10 horses whilst on fire. And that’s how the term flaming galah came about.

This is Cornwallis the Camel on the wall at the Mount Isa Family Fun Park.

The story of Cornwallis the Camel

Once when Cornwallis was just an iddy biddy camel he had his first strawberry milkshake just after completing a 200 mile cross desert trek and it was literally the best drink he had ever drunk in his life. From then on in all he ever drunk was strawberry milkshakes and water because water is the elixer of life but strawberry milkshakes were his first preference every time. When he got older he opened a milk bar in the middle of the desert called Cornwallis’s Milkbar and all it served was strawberry milkshakes and other food items that aren’t relevant to this story. It was a huge success and everyone who crossed the desert always stopped at his milkbar and had a strawberry milkshake and Cornwallis always told his tale of when he had his first strawberry milkshake and how it changed his life.

It’s Olga the Brolga at Mount Isa Family Fun Park.
The story of Olga the Brolga

Once there was a Brolga called Olga and she was a splendid Brolga who was super excellent at ballet. She won all the ballet tournaments in her region when she was younger and then when she grew up she was the lead dancer for the Mt Isa Bird Ballet company the most prestigious ballet company in the whole of Australia at the time. After dancing for the company for a few years she got hit by a truck and broke her leg but was able to recover and was back to dancing in no time. She held the world record for dancing the ‘Swan Lake’ dance more times than anyone else in the world and people started calling the dance Brolga Lake because she was so good at it and all that.

Introducing Roger the Red Winged Parrot at the Mount Isa Family Fun Park.

The story of Roger the Red Winged Parrot

Once there was a red winged parrot called Toby but everyone called him Roger because when he was little his favourite movie growing up was ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’. Personally I didn’t see the appeal but each to his own. His claim to fame was that he was always getting his stuff nicked. For example the first day he rode his BMX to school it got nicked or when he left his pepperoni pizza outside hit motel room for not even 2 minutes someone came past and ate it. He was just unlucky like that. But then one day he found out about the police auctions and saw a lot of his stuff that had been flogged at them and he was able to buy them back at pretty good prices although he never did see that pepperoni pizza again.

Introducing Clint the Cockatoo on the wall outside the Mount Isa Family Fun Park.

The story of Clint the Cockatoo

Once there was a cockatoo called Clint and he was the youngest brother of 14 other cockatoos. He was a cheeky little fella and known far and wide for being a smart alec. He liked razzing other bigger animals but always managed to escape unscathed by his good humour and quick wit. When he grew up he started a handy man business called ‘Clint the Cockatoo Handyman Services’ because he was heaps handy with his hands and had a real go getter attitude. His business was heaps successful and it grew to employ 13 other cockatoos and he sold it after 7 years for a tidy sum and retired to the lakes region where he spent his days fishing and working on personal woodworking projects.

The story of Kaleb the Kangaroo

Once there was a kangaroo called Kaleb and he was a lovely kangaroo who had a vast love of icecream so vast that he went to icecream school and mastered the art of ice cream making and got heaps good at it and then he opened a popup icecream shop called ‘The Icecream Palace’ and it was such a wonderful shop that it got voted runner up in the local business awards in the pop up food shop category. The winner was a toad named Gregory who operated Gregory’s Ice Creamery and although he was a talented ice cream maker he was a shifty toad and not to be trusted.

Bubby the Cockatoo on the wall outside Mount Isa Family Fun Park

The story of Bubby the Cockatoo
Once there was a cockatoo called Bubby the Cockatoo and when he was little he was heaps cute and his family called him Bubby but when he got older he wasnt as cute because when you get older you’re just not cute anymore but the name had stuck. His favourite place to fly around was up at the Blue Mountains because blue was his favourite colour plus there was sweet cliffs and stuff for nice updrafts and the air was super fresh and crisp and felt good on his feathery wings. He had a great home life and played lots of table tennis and Nintendo with his bros so whenever he went for a fly he would always head back home because there was no place like home.

Introducing Kendall the Crocodile at the Mt Isa Family Fun Park.

The story of Kendall the Crocodile

Kendall the Crocodile loved to have a good ole sunbake. Sometimes he sun-baked all day and failed to get any of his chores done. Chores like unpacking the dishwasher and taking out the garbage. His mum was always rousing on him but he put some toilet paper in his ears so he couldn’t hear her and he snoozed happily in the sun. One time when he was snoozing a rabbit hopped along his back on the way to the shops.
