Who knows what the dolphin is saying?

I recently sat down with My Creative Way TV and got deep and philosophical talking all about my art. It gives a pretty good insight into my art making practice and you will really enjoy it.
Mulga’s Magical Musical Creatures picture book is nearly here!
To celebrate I’m hosting a big launch party and artshow at aMBUSH Gallery at Central Park Sydney on Saturday 24 Sep, 4-8 pm. Save the date it’s going to be sweet!
This is a vid of me illustrating a page from the book. Big thanks to Ray Lalotoa who wrote the song as part of the book/music collab project.
Listen to the full song on the Mulga’s Magical Musical Creatures Soundcloud page or below.
I painted on the broken surfboard of pro surfer Adrian Buchan using Posca paint markers.
The music was written and recorded by Rio Rakoia especially for this video.
It is for an art show called BROKEN DREAMS involving ‘LA Division’ artists which sees broken surfboards provided by elite professional surfers repurposed into amazing artworks to convey the message of Take 3 for the Sea. The idea of Take 3 is pretty simple, next time you visit the beach, find three items of trash and throw them in the bin.
The boards will be exhibited at Wild Things gallery on 26 Feb 2016, Manly as part of the Australia Open of Surfing. All proceeds going towards the TAKE 3 education program that focuses on influencing our youth to take action against pollution.
An Ode to the King of the Sea
In the sea there was a king and he was king of the sea
For many years he was content as content as can be
But then stuff started to happen that made him real sad
All this junk entered his kingdom and this junk was real bad
The land dwelling folks got more careless by the day
Dumping their garbage in an offhand kind of way
All this rubbish was killing the creatures of the deep
They were choking on garbage and entering the eternal sleep
So if you see some garbage while you’re down at the beach
Pick up at least three pieces and that would be sweet
The king of the sea will be well pleased with you
He’ll flash you a smile and also a shaka too
I painted Remy the Rainbow Lion on the window of the Michael Crouch Innovation Centre at the University of New South Wales for their Climate Change Festival.
The story of Remy
Remy the Rainbow Lion was the most magical lion that ever lived. He was heaps bigger than a regular lion, like at least 4.5 times larger in diameter.
Whenever there was a big storm in the area where he lived he would run up the mountain like a crazed mountain goat and when the clouds would pass by the Cliff of Wonders he would leap off and land on the clouds and go for a magical ride as if he was Aladdin on his magic carpet.
After going for a bit of a ride he would sometimes get so excited that he would do a roar of glee and out would pop a magic lion rainbow the likes of which the savannah has never seen before.
Sometimes when there was more than one rainbow in the sky at the same time that was because his brother Barry was also going for a ride on the clouds and also getting a bit excited.
For the month of July 2015 I displayed 3 bearded dude heads in the Newtown Art Seat. I called the artwork “Beards, beards, beards”.
There was a poem that accompanied the 3 bearded dude heads, it went like this.
Beards are nice and useful too
They are great to house your spanners or flamingo crew
In the Christmas holidays I had the good fortune to be invited to paint live at Mambo’s pop up shop in Circular Quay.
Mum and dad came along and helped me paint Mia the Magical Unicorn. She derives her magical powers from eating magical ice creams.
Trait was painting alongside me and he painted a magical kookaburra.
It was great times and everybody did a great job.
I recently painted a new mural at Bondi Beach. It is a painting of Dolphin Beard Donnie and his 3 dolphin friends.
Here are some photos. The poem on the wall was written by Stuart McKerihan.
This is a time lapse video of me creating Joshua the Jolly Elephant.
I also recite a poem about Joshua which I composed whilst staying in the African Jungle with a herd of African Elephants called the Big Grey Crew.
They are a lively bunch.
Mulgafest Video Competition
Music videos are rad but what about art poetry videos, that doesn’t sound too snazzy but let’s change that!
Mulgafest is an annual video competition aiming to showcase the worlds most raddest video makers. It is a collaboration between Mulga and the video maker and celebrates art and poetry and video in one fun little package.
The winner will receive a $300 Mulga gift voucher. This voucher can be used to purchase Mulga goodies such as clothes, art prints, an original artwork or a custom Mulga painting.
Every submission gets an A4 Mulga print.

If you want, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org telling me which artwork you want to feature and I can record the poem for you.
